Tracks

1. Rain

Rain

The sky is getting heavy, it's dark, hot, and sweaty
The clouds roll in, they're big, fat, and gray
I look up and wonder as the thunder rumbles through
Like a horseman bringing news, there's a storm on the way

chorus
The rain comes down, rushing through the streams
Back to the ocean and up to the sky
The rain comes down, it makes our planet squeaky clean
Then the sun shines bright from on high

You can run, you can hide or hold your face up to the sky
You can try and jump the puddles, or splash right in
You can duck, you can dive, or laugh out loud and just get wet
You can try and hold Mother Nature back but you'll never win!

chorus

Did you ever wonder where those raindrops travelled from
Did they float here from Alaska or come up the coast of Spain
Did they rise from the Nile or sail round from Bangladesh
Or are they all mixed together, it's the whole world's rain

chorus

It's the whole world's rain...

2. Carousel

Carousel

Circle left around the Merry Go Round
Circle right, watch the horses go up and down
Star right, as you reach for that ring
Star left, feel the music, it makes you want to sing

One’s do-si-do around the Tilt-a Whirl
Then swing in the middle ‘til the whole world’s a blur
Take your friends by the hand in a line of four
Back up, shoot the Moon, send the two’s right through that door

(that’s it, there is no more.)

3. Summer Berries

Summer Berries

chorus
Summer berries, it’s hot, hot, hot
Summer berries help mark the spot
In the year, in the season, summer berries are the reason
We all love the summertime

June brings strawberries
Red, ripe, growing wild in the field
Children eat their fill, they drop a few in a cup
They charge a penny a berry ‘til they're all eaten up

chorus

July brings raspberries
Frosty branches twist all along the path
Each berry’s sweeter than the one before
It’s worth reaching through the prickers to get yourself some more

chorus

August brings blueberries
Those bushes lined up like desks in a row
Warm berries from the heat of the sun
It won’t be long before school’s begun

chorus

In the year, in the season, summer berries are the reason
We all love the summertime

4. Butterfly

Butterfly

A round in three parts:

From an egg to a caterpillar
Into a chrysalis, a cocoon
Listen to the rhythm of the sun and the moon

Stretch your wings, break free
You can ride the wind
The time has come for your next journey to begin

Butterfly in the blue sky
Butterfly in the rain
Butterfly lay your eggs, life begins again

5. Friends

Friends

I love making friends, it's easy
We all make new friends everyday
"Hi, my name's Susan. What's yours? Wanna play?"
It's that simple. It's all you have to say

But keeping friends, now that's much harder
You've got to share, take turns, and stay in touch
You need to ask, "How was your day? What's new, how are you?"
Even if the answer is "Not much."

chorus
Friends make the world go round
They pick you up when you are down
They share in your wildest dreams
Through the laughter and tears, friends last for years and years
Friends make the world go round

Taking care of your friends takes time, like houseplants...

Water your friends and stick them in a pot
Bring them out in the sunshine when it's hot
Water your friends, squish dirt between their toes
And every now and then spray them down with a garden hose

chorus

Friends need lots of attention, like pets…

Play fetch with your friends, throw them a stick or a bone
Be sure to praise them when they bring it home
Play fetch with your friends until you wear them out
Then scratch them on the belly, behind their ears, and on their snout

chorus

Take care of your friends everyday… like brushing your teeth.

Brush your friends, with toothpaste twice a day
Brush them hard to keep those cavities at bay
Brush your friends, and don't forget to floss
Then it's rinse, spit, repeat, with the mouthwash

chorus

When you're with your friends it's good to take turns.

Let your friend go first when it's time for a shot
Tell the doctor your friend can take your spot
Let your friend go first when it's spinach pie for dinner
The first one done clears the plates- your friend can be the winner

chorus

This silly song is almost over
With so many ways to be a friend
I’d better stop this text, who knows what I’ll think up next?
So with that, goodbye, this is the end

chorus

Friends are the best!

6. The Tornado and Mr. Snit

The Tornado and Mr. Snit

There’s a problem in America, it’s got the country in its grip
It has to do with tragedy, equality, and hardship
The United States is up in arms with the biggest trial in history
How justice will be served is still a mystery

It happened just last week, early morning on a Tuesday
A tornado ripped through Kansas, through the sleepy town of Snoozley
That twister came roaring in, right through the center of town
It turned the school, the bank, and Mr. Snit’s house upside down

Rescue trucks rushed to the scene, with the TV crew in tow
The firemen cleaned up the mess while the media prepared the show
They filmed and interviewed, and got the story straight
Then packaged it up just in time for the evening news at eight

In living rooms around the world people turned on the TV
To catch up on what was happening, to see what they could see
In New York, the Anchorman combed his hair then took the stage
With cameras rolling he announced the latest outrage

“In the sleepy town of Snoozley, Kansas, a tornado is to blame
Some say it’s the worst destruction our country will ever claim
The school, the bank, and Mr. Snit’s house destroyed and overturned
Details to come, after this commercial, when we return”

Anxious viewers leaned forward, perched on their chairs
Hungry for details, as the first commercial aired
“Have you ever been hurt, or injured on the job?
Perhaps your health, or wellbeing have been robbed?

If so you may be entitled to benefits most obscene
Just call the number posted on the bottom of your screen
Call 1-800- I-AM-HURT to speak with a representative now
That’s 1-800- I-AM-HURT, to get what you deserve, and how”

Cranky Mr. Snit, who lost his house during that twister
Was spending the night one block over with his sister
Her phone rang, but it was for him, what a surprise!
It was from 1-800- I-AM-HURT, they were hoping to advise

A plan was made, with the crime committed, a wrong must be made right
Mr. Snit was inspired to fight the mighty fight
A lawsuit was drawn up, the tornado must pay
Plaintiff Mr. Snit would sue, only in the USA

A warrant for the arrest of the tornado was issued
But every time they delivered it the paper was ripped like tissue
Cowboys road the plains and wrestled it down with their rope
But they couldn’t hold that twister still, with strength, with prayer, or hope

You see, Natural Forces function on this planet just like us
They need respect and understanding or else they make a fuss
It was finally decided to hold the tornado without bail
But free to roam the state of Kansas seeing how it had wrecked half the jails

The court day approached, the tornado was granted a public defense
Finding a tornado lawyer on such short notice made no sense
The jury was chosen, it was a jury of peers
A mixture of people and tornados from throughout the Hemisphere

On the first day of trial the bailiff called “All rise.”
The tornado jury billowed so you could barely hear the cries
The judge, the lawyers, the media all hid behind their seats
But Americans have the right to a fair trial, no matter how off beat

The Plantiff’s Attorney took the floor and argued up and down
That the tornado was to blame for ruining the town
That Mr. Snit had pain and suffering galore
Only money could fix it. More money, more, more, more!

The Defense presented its case, stating simple facts
Tornados are destructive, by nature they impact
But Global Warming has increased their strength, let’s not forget
The Green House Effect was caused by humans, I regret

There were gasps heard round, the twisters raged, the court was in a flurry
The media was capturing the scene in a hurry
People watching everywhere clucked that chicken or egg debate
Man and Nature in crisis. How did we get here? What is our fate?

“Order in the court” yelled the judge in a fury
The gavel dropped and he ordered deliberation for the jury
The court was calm again, quiet, and pensive
Even the accused just whirled and purred on the defensive

But across the aisle, The Plaintiff Mr. Snit was incomplete
With all the information brought forth he was uncomfortable in his seat
It had never occurred to him his part in the Human Race
And here he was in court suing a tornado with this ridiculous case

Mr. Snit rose and approached the bench with permission
He strode up to the judge and withdrew his opposition
“I will change my ways and try to make this world better for all”
And with his head held high he marched right out of the Town Hall

Snit’s lawyer yelled “Objection!” The Judge said, “Overruled.
Sir, your client has just dropped the charges and changed his attitude.
All rise. Case closed. Court dismissed. You’re free to go”
The people filed out the door, the tornados flew out the window

Mr. Snit rebuilt his home using nothing but recyclables
He sold his SUV, and got in shape riding bicycles
An energized and happy Snit then took his message on tour
Giving inspirational speeches around the world about his cure

People came to hear him speak of Earth as our collective home
Millions cheered him, from Tanzania to Beijing, to Rome
Snit’s formula is simple, recognize what we all share
And do your part- work with others, make good change, take care

So whenever you are down and your reality seems to stink
There’s always more to life at that very moment than you might think
When you are at your worst, and even in a snit
Reach out, it’s good to know you’re not alone, you’re not just it

7. In From the Cold

Instrumental

8. Home

Home

Soon you’ll go out into the world
Taking steps you only imagined before
Like a bird on the wing- a songbird about to sing
You are reaching, reaching for more

chorus
But no matter where you are, no matter where you go
No matter if you’re far or near
No matter where you’ve been I want you to know
You’ll always have a home here

For many years we’ve watched you grow
You were born with all you needed we just pointed the way
Like a seed in the sun, your journey’s long begun
It’s your time to claim your days

chorus

You will fail, you will succeed
You’ll feel pain, yet you’ll feel joy
You’ll have frustration then clarity
You’ll feel loneliness, you’ll feel surrounded by love

chorus

You have gifts to offer this troubled world
Gifts from your hands, your imagination, gifts of the heart
Like the stars in the night we’ve seen you shine just as bright
We believe in you, we look forward to your part

chorus

9. Midnight Sun

Midnight Sun

With the stars shining bright the hunter rode the night
To the land of the Midnight Sun
Headed north on his steed it was a woman he did seek
To finish what he’d begun
To the Midnight Sun, the Midnight Sun
Headed north on his steed it was a woman he did seek
To finish what he’d begun

Midsummer Night by the lake the hunter did awake
Sprang to the ready, and drew his bow
Spoke a woman so fair, emerald gown, flowing hair
“I am the Wind, I am where’ere you go
I’m from the Midnight Sun, The Midnight Sun”
Spoke a woman so fair, emerald gown, flowing hair
“I am the Wind, I am where’ere you go”

Bow down he did stand, the hunter reached for her hand
She warned him, “Listen what I say
I am a woman in this light, with the Sun and Moon at night
But I am the Wind, I’ll be gone by day
Back to the Midnight Sun, the Midnight Sun
I am a woman in this light, with the Sun and Moon at night
But I am the Wind, I’ll be gone by day”

With the stars shining bright the hunter rode the night
To the land of the Midnight Sun
Headed north on his steed it was a woman he did seek
To finish what he’d begun
To the Midnight Sun, the Midnight Sun
Headed north on his steed it was a woman he did seek
To finish what he’d begun

10. Looking Glass

Looking Glass

Through the looking glass, I see the future, heed the past
Through the looking glass, only the moment can last

Each moment leads to another, then another on and on
Each moment leads to another, that’s my song

11. Continents

Continents

chorus
Come travel round this world of ours
Spin round, blue and green
From the highest mountain peaks down to the sea
Come travel round this world
On each continent you'll see
It's home to you and me

There's North America and just below
South America, here we go...

chorus

There's North America and just below
South America, here we go...
Let's cross the ocean to Africa
Up above there's much more land
Europe touches Asia reaching round where we began...

chorus

There's North America and just below
South America, here we go...
Let's cross the ocean to Africa
Up above there's much more land
Europe touches Asia reaching round where we began...
But we'll head down, down under, to Australia
Further south, like a bowl of ice... Antarctica

chorus

North America, South America
Africa, Europe and Asia
Australia, Antarctica
It’s home to you and me
It’s home to you and me

12. Stars

Stars

story

13. Circle the Sun

Circle the Sun

Right hand round the Galaxy
Left hand back, come on and dance with me
Give two hands, turn your partner round the floor
Do-si-do through the Universe, twist and twirl

Circle the sun, one time round makes a year
Circle the sun and bring good cheer
Circle the sun, one time round makes a year
Circle the sun and bring good cheer

14. Listen to Your Dreams

Listen to Your Dreams

When I grow up, what will I do?
Many grownups ask that same question too
How will I know what to be, will there be room enough for me
Will I fit in, what will I do?

chorus
Listen to your dreams, they’ll tell you who you are
Know what you love and that will take you far
Just be sure to leave this world a better place than how you found it
It’s the wish and not the star

It’s good to know what makes you thirst for more
What is it that makes your spirit soar?
Put some joy in each day as you travel on your way
Love takes a lifetime to explore

chorus

You need to speak your individuality
Your take on life can lead our world community
We must all work together help each other through life’s weather
We’re all part of one humanity

chorus

It’s the wish and not the star
It’s the wish, and not the star

15. Gather

Gather

We gather here but once a year
Drawn together by what we all share
We gather here but once a year
Drawn together by what we all share

It’s the stories that bind us, the stories remind us
The stories will bring us together again
